Manager of Software Engineering (Hands-on, “TLM”) - Hybrid in Austin, TX
Looking for what I’d refer to as a “Tech Lead Manager” for a Seed-funded Security company based in Austin that leveraging ML-driven tools (using both unsupervised & supervised learning) which combine user-behavior and threat analysis in an API-driven architecture.
building and contributing to our platform and product roadmap, shaping our technology strategy, and mentoring talented engineers. You are motivated by building effective engineering teams and driven to roll up your sleeves and dive into code when necessary.
What You’ll Do:
Designing, developing, and maintaining our software and APIs for browser threat detection and response.
Leading engineering initiatives and projects like architectural changes.
Provide technical leadership and help us build a diverse engineering team with a wide range of skills and expertise.
Designing data processing pipelines that are scalable and reliable.
Identifying opportunities to improve the development process and productivity.
Communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders, such as the product roadmap and progress updates.
Who You’ll Need to Be:
5+ years experience as a Software Engineer, preferably with Startups and/or Security companies
2+ years experience leading teams of 3+ SWEs
A strong “technical leader” (vs. a heavy “people-manager”)
Lean towards backend development, preferably in: Node.js + Typescript + NoSQL + Cloud (AWS/GCP)
Strong preference for those with experience in user-facing Security/Threat related challenges, but please highlight security-centric (or security-adjacent) projects/interests
