Get past the “magic resume filter”
You’ve probably read articles about how to get past the Magic Resume Filter that companies use to process through job applications. The truth, however, is there’s no such thing. At best, most modern “ATS” systems are simply a repository of resumes and notes.
While it feels better to believe our applications are rejected (or ignored) because we couldn’t outsmart some AI system, it is far more likely to be a person hitting the “thanks, but no thanks” button.
This means appealing to a person, not a computer, and doing so quickly!

Depending on the type of positions they work on, an internal recruiter may have end-to-end responsibility for 5-15+ different jobs, perhaps on vastly different teams, concurrently. Applicant flow varies greatly, but 20-200, isn’t uncommon - EVERYDAY!
In order for an recruiter to process that volume they will look at applications incredibly quick. Most spend ~10 seconds reviewing each resume, ultimately rejecting more than 90% of the pool. After reducing this “noise,” more time is spent with remaining profiles.
